childhood cancer SUPPORT for those living in the united kingdom

Butterfly Wishes Network

The Butterfly Wishes Network gifts professional photoshoots to families of children under the age of 18 with a life-limiting or life-threatening illness.

They have a network of over 300 volunteers spread across the United Kingdom and are dedicated to finding a professional photographer for every family in need.

STARLIGHT

Starlight uses the power of play to make the experience of illness and treatment better for seriously ill children and their families throughout the United Kingdom. This includes parents/guardians and siblings (step, half or otherwise!); any family can receive support from the moment of their child or young person’s diagnosis.

Starlight are dedicated to supporting families at all stages of dealing with a child’s serious illness and offer in hospital entertainment, in addition to events and experiences nationwide for families with sick children aged 3-17 years old who meet the eligibility criteria.

Families must apply directly to be included in the Starlight community.

SUPERSHOES

Supershoes are committed to providing children and young people with a well-needed boost at a time when everything feels like a huge challenge, and smiles can be hard to come by.

Supershoes are available as a one-off gift for children and young people aged 24 and under, who are in current treatment for cancer in the UK. They are customised to the child/young person’s particular requirements, featuring all the things they love: flowers, sports teams, pets, games, and anything and everything else. Some younger Super Brave kids believe that their Supershoes give them superpowers, and wear them to treatment!

Referals can be made through the child’s social worker.

YOUTH CANCER TRUST

Youth Cancer Trust are dedicated to enriching the lives of young people diagnosed with cancer through free activity holidays, where they can connect and enjoy a fun time away from the hospital.

Young people aged 14 – 30 years old, who are residents of the United Kingdom and Irish Republic, and have been diagnosed with and are living with cancer, or living with the late effects of earlier treatment, or who have been in remission for up to 5 years are eligible to apply.

They also run an online activity and support programme.
