Cancer Council SA is a not-for-profit organisation, supporting South Australian’s of all ages who have been diagnosed with cancer.

They can connect you with professionals who are able to assist with legal issues and financial planning; and may be able to provide a one-off grant to help manage the financial challenges of a cancer diagnosis.

Parents can also access their Cancer Counselling service for emotional support and offer subsided holiday accommodation and lodging for those required to travel long distances for treatment.

CHILDHOOD CANCER ASSOCIATION

Childhood Cancer Association is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to providing practical, hands on support to children with cancer and their families. They are committed to meeting the individual needs of each family and extend support to all family members including the child with cancer, parents and guardians, siblings, grandparents and other close relations.

Childhood Cancer Association provides a vast number of supports to families including counselling, home tutoring, massage therapy, accommodation for country/interstate families, respite accommodation and more.

Families have access to the Family Room at the Women and Children’s Hospital and Families First program which involves hospital visits by counsellors, family support packs, limited financial assistance to families experiencing financial hardship, SIBS holiday program for siblings aged 5-12 years and child minding for the patient and/or siblings within the hospital.

In the event of bereavement, Childhood Cancer Association may be able to provide some financial assistance to families, to assist with the cost of a funeral, arranged through their social worker.
