CANCER COUNCIL QUEENSLAND

Cancer Council QLD is a not-for-profit organisation, supporting people of all ages who have been diagnosed with cancer.

They can connect you with professionals who are able to assist with legal issues, financial planning, small business accounting and workplace matters through their Pro Bono Program; and offer counselling services as well as mindfulness and relaxation programs to help manage the emotional impact of cancer.

CHILDHOOD CANCER SUPPORT

Childhood Cancer Support is a family-focused charity providing accommodation solutions for regional families whose children are being treated for cancer.

Childhood Cancer Support can assist you with free family accommodation, both long and short stay, within close proximity to treatment centres. They include a welcome pack full of practical items and have partnered with OzHarvest to supply fresh fruit, vegetables, meat and other food products for families staying in house!

Childhood Cancer Support is also able to assist with airport and hospital transfers; and provides counselling and social support services to all family members.

Services supported by government travel assistance scheme (PTSS/IPTAAS).

CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL FOUNDATION

The Children’s Hospital Foundation helps sick and injured kids by funding life-saving medical research, investing in vital new equipment, and providing support and entertainment for children and their families.

They are committed to making a difference in the fight against childhood illness and injury so every child can grow up as happy and healthy as possible. The Children’s Hospital Foundation is the charity dedicated to raising funds for Queensland’s sickest kids, proudly working alongside the Queensland Children’s Hospital and state-wide with Children’s Health Queensland. 

Their Patient and Family Support team have been improving the hospital experience for families like yours for more than 30 years. With the generous assistance of the community, they support and deliver essential services at Queensland Children’s Hospital, and regional hospitals across Queensland.  

Childhood Cancer Foundation supports the provision of a number of complementary therapies including Music Therapy and Pet Therapy, which can be arranged through hospital staff; and during your visit or stay at Queensland Children’s Hospital you can pop in to the Family Resource Centre for access to a number of essentials such as phones, computers, emergency clothing and more.

LITTLE WINGS

Little Wings is a non-profit organisation that provides air and ground transportation for seriously ill children in regions across NSW, ACT and QLD, to ensure they are able to receive the very best care at children’s hospitals in NSW. Families are referred to Little Wings by the hospital who take into consideration the child’s medical condition, location and frequency of travel.

SCARLETT MAY FOUNDATION

The Scarlett May Foundation is a Queensland based not-for-profit organisation that aims to support families with critically ill children.

You’ll find them stocking the fridges in parent’s rooms across the state with nourishing, healthy, allergy and diet sensitive meals, so that parents are able to maintain their strength while continuing to care for their little champions.

The Scarlett May Foundation also provides financial support for bereavement counselling to parents and families who have suffered the loss of a child. Through a team of dedicated counsellors and social workers, parents can access the assistance they need in a safe space.
