BEAR COTTAGE

Bear Cottage is a very special place, that is dedicated to caring for children with life-limiting conditions. Their facilities are designed to provide outstanding paediatric palliative care 24 hours a day and the family support team work closely with each family, throughout the care of their child and through ongoing bereavement support.

They provide care and comfort in a home like environment and offer music, art and play therapy to increase happiness, responsiveness and empowerment to these children and their families.

Bear Cottage also run a number of camps tailored to children with life-limiting conditions and their families, to give everyone the opportunity to regroup, recharge and share experiences.

CANCER COUNCIL NSW

Cancer Council NSW is a not-for-profit organisation, supporting people of all ages who have been diagnosed with cancer.

They can connect you with professionals who are able to assist with legal issues, financial planning, small business accounting and workplace matters through their Pro Bono Program; and financial counselling services, to help you manage the cost of cancer.

Limited financial assistance is also available to those experiencing financial hardship as a result of cancer; alongside counselling services to help manage the emotional impact.

FIGHT CANCER FOUNDATION

Fight Cancer is a not-for-profit organisation committed to providing support to seriously ill children and their families.  

For families who are required to travel long distances to access medical treatment, Fight Cancer (in conjunction with government travel assistance schemes) can provide accommodation support in Albury-Wodonga to reduce the expense to the family.

They also run Education Support programs out of The Children’s Hospital at Westmead and Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick, to ensure young learners can continue their education while undergoing treatment.

LITTLE WINGS

Little Wings is a non-profit organisation that provides air and ground transportation for seriously ill children in regions across NSW, ACT and QLD, to ensure they are able to receive the very best care at children’s hospitals in NSW. Families are referred to Little Wings by the hospital who take into consideration the child’s medical condition, location and frequency of travel.

THE ROYAL CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL FOUNDATION

The Royal Children’s Hospital Foundation (RCHF) supports patients at Royal Children’s Hospital, NSW by funding care, treatment, research and learning that will improve the lives of young people and their families.

RCHF run a number of programs including the ChIPs program which offers young people the opportunity to connect with each other and explore their illness experience through music, art, games and discussions in small group sessions; Music Therapy programs; and the RCH Education Institute which caters for all learning abilities and levels from kindergarten through to secondary school, to ensure young learners can continue their education and smoothly transition back to school following the completion of their treatment.
